Did you know that Drexel University has a student run record label, and Keith Berman is speaking this weekend?

MAD Dragon Records has released over 20 titles, been featured in hundreds of newspapers and magazines, and is the first student-run record label to secure a national distribution deal.  Students in Drexel’s Music Industry Program at Antionette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design play a major role in running the label.

Did you know that Stanford is partnering with the CUNY’s City College campus for a joint technology and entrepreneurship venture?

In the new Stanford(at)CCNY program, Stanford professors will advise City College undergraduate engineering students on marketing their technology ideas. The students will still earn City College degrees. Stanford is also one of more than twenty-seven universities that have submitted bids for the opportunity to build a Manhattan campus, which could mean a Stanford University campus on Roosevelt Island as early as 2016.

Did you know that Columbia University is launching a new 8-month program in Paris for second semester juniors?

This spring, Columbia University’s global center in Paris will welcome its first class of undergraduate students for its eight-month-long program for college juniors. The pilot program is based out of Columbia’s Reid Hall and will feature small, seminar-style courses as well as research opportunities. It also expects students to be bilingual in order to interact with French-speaking academia. Applications are currently being accepted.

Did you know that the Department of Energy runs a Solar Decathlon Competition for collegiate teams to design and build energy-efficient homes?

Teams compete in 10 contests that judge the affordability, attractiveness, and comfort of the homes. In addition, the homes must supply energy to appliances, provide hot water, and produce as much or more energy than they consume. Some teams work on their homes for almost two years. University of Maryland was named named the winner of the 2011 competition this weekend.
